There are many times I have done quotes for people who have been very happy with the price and the service that I offer only to have them come back to me a few days later to say they have found some one who was 'a little bit cheaper'. In one case the little bit turned out to be a mere £23! Then they pointed out that the other photographer also 'offered a little bit more'. This turned out to be a CD of twenty or so low res (low quality) images for the purpose of emailing to friends, family etc. I reminded them that I offered them an online gallery with up to 100 hi-res images of their day for all friends/family to view/buy if they wished.
They then pointed out that the other photographer was also offering to take unlimited photos on the day and a retouching service. To me, both of these are standard practice and go without saying.
I emailed the couple back, and suggested that they meet with myself and the other photographer as it is vitally important that you are not persuaded to go for a photographer because they are a little bit cheaper, or offer a little bit more. It is important that you not only like the style of your photographer, but like them as a person too. Remember that they will be with you on one of the most important days of your life. Your wedding photographs are too important to take a chance on.
The couple did meet with myself and the other photographer (and another two!) and I am looking forward to their wedding next year!
